Patient Testimonials

JOHN F FLEMING, MD

“I had an infection on my right index finger in the bone and Dr. Fleming treated me several times. He had such great manners and care and was right on with his treatment. I sit on the board of two large hospitals and I was so impressed with Dr. Fleming. I would highly recommend him to anyone.”

“My health insurance company has this facility on the list of approved facilities. I met with Dr. Fleming with my MRI and he determined surgery was the best course of action to relieve the pain and numbness I was experiencing in my back and legs.

Dr. Fleming explained the whole procedure and made sure I completely understood everything including the risks involved.

After the surgery, Dr. Fleming made routine visits to my hospital room and schedule physical therapy while there. After being discharged, I met up with him again to check my incision and healing process.

Once he felt I was healing well, he referred my across the hall to their physical therapy facility. Although I only had 2 therapy session, my range of motion and ability to walk has greatly increased. I know it's going to be a long road to recovery, but Dr. Fleming and the physical therapy staff have been fantastic!”

“Dr. John Fleming is awesome. He has great bedside manner and is very professional and knowledgeable in his field. I just received a cortisone shot in my shoulder today from him and it was quick and painless. He is very thorough and explains the entire process. I will be recommending him to anyone in need of a great ortho doctor!”

“My girlfriend and I just saw Dr. Fleming. She has been having hip instability, numbness in her legs and many other related symptoms. Dr. Fleming was an A+ in every category. He did a great physical examination, ordered x-rays on their high tech imaging device, listened carefully to everything my girlfriend said and gave what we believe is the accurate diagnose and cause of her problems. She is korean and it can be difficult for American doctors to understand what she is trying to convey, but he understood everything. We both have 100% faith in him and his diagnosis and treatment. We will keep Yelp posted on her results. He is also very, very patient and understanding.”

“I had a great experience at Coastal Ortho [formerly Torrance Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Group]. Friendly and professional staff was very punctual (filled out New Patient forms online before appointment which speeded things up). Dr. John Fleming was very thorough and took the time to review MRI results and discuss multiple options for resolving my medical issue. Dr. Fleming also took the time to get an X-Ray during my visit to further validate MRI results. Recommend Coastal Ortho and Dr. Fleming highly.”

“Wow first review! So I had been dealing with left scapular pain and dysfunction for years. I’m a very active 33 year old who lift weights a lot and this problem was really starting to be debilitating for me and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I tried everything: stretches, different movement. I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Even tried personal training sessions with no relief. So I schedule an appointment with Dr. Fleming. I went into the appointment with reservations thinking that they're probably not gonna be able to help me and I'm probably going to just hear the same thing that I see on YouTube. But I was wrong. Dr. Fleming was very pleasant and I could tell he really knew what he was talking about. He assessed me in the office and said that he didn't think that it was related to a compromise nerve, which was a relief, and that it was mostly muscular. He suggested that I do physical therapy. He set me up with a physical therapist named Andrew at the Maple location in El Segundo. Again I went into this appointment thinking that I wouldn't be shown anything new. I was wrong again. Andrew was able to pinpoint the muscle around my scapula that was weak. And that this muscle is affecting the movement of my scapula which is causing me to get knots and strained muscles. And he gave me three exercises to perform daily. I did these exercises with him in the office. Then I carried on about my day went to the gym and worked out. And as I'm sitting here right now I can tell you I have relief for the first time in months if not years. I'm really grateful to these people that helped me and I would highly suggest Coastal Ortho to anyone. I really got the diagnosis and the attention that I needed here and everyone that helped me was really nice.”

"I came to see Dr. Park, first for a fractured left big toe and then for a fractured 5th metatarsal...one was not healed before the next fracture occurred on the same foot. As an active person, this was quite difficult for me. Dr. Park had an excellent bedside manner, did not rush, answered all my questions, and was most importantly highly competent and not a doctor to rush to surgery. I greatly appreciated that he was willing to try to heal the fracture the first fracture without surgery and it was successful. He was also quite reassuring that the 2nd fracture would heal with time and it did. In addition, at the same time, I was having issues with my right knee. In the interest of treating the whole person so I could return to an active lifestyle, Dr. Park was kind enough to include physical therapy for my right knee in his overall prescription for physical therapy and it helped. I truly appreciated this willingness to go outside of what he was specifically treating to help the patient. This was my second experience with Coastal Ortho. Dr. Halikis did a complex tendon surgery on my right hand a couple of years ago and I also had an excellent result. In both cases, occupational and physical therapy in the practice, was also very good. The therapists and assistants work very well as a team and listen to the patient in terms of how they are feeling, what is working and how the patient would like to push his or herself. My excellent occupational therapist moved out of state. However, this time, I saw mostly Weslyn and Jereley and they were terrific as were the many assistants. If I had one area of improvement, I would only say the front office could potentially use more help. The office is very busy as there as several doctors and the front office can feel a bit chaotic...they are efficient and competent, but just seem a bit understaffed. However, everyone was very helpful."
